Eagle’s Gold Slot Review
The story goes that Benjamin Franklin wanted the wild turkey to be the national symbol of the United States of America. Apparently, it lost out by just 1 single vote!
So why did Ben favor the gobbler over the bald eagle? Well, you see, that most majestic of creatures has a reputation for being a thief and for being bullied by smaller birds.
So dismayed was the Founding Father that he allegedly penned an emotional missive denigrating the eagle, and simultaneously elevating that most respected of birds, the turkey. Some historians, though, claim this is a bunch of crap, citing that he never publicly stated such things.
I choose to believe those historians. I’ve always had an affection for these birds of prey and I just can’t see the guest of honor at Thanksgiving representing the US of A.
Let’s leave the experts to argue about the facts while we get to grips with this winged predator in Eagle’s Gold slot from Zillion.
Gameplay
Hmmm, this wasn’t quite what I was expecting. I had an idea of what the visuals might entail from the name of this slot, but seeing buffalo, mountain lions, stags, and grizzlies on the grid too, kinda threw me off.
The only visual references to gold are the wings on top of the reels that house the Jackpots. This seems to me to be another game where the theme hasn’t been thought out well. It’s more a case of “let’s name it something cool and just beat it into shape.”
Be that as it may, let’s see what this bad boy’s like to play.
The action happens across 25 fixed paylines, so my line bet of 4 credits equated to a total bet of 100. On the first 10 bets, I was “winning” on most of the spins, but in actual fact, I was bringing in less than I was making. Going into the next 10 spins, I was 580 in arrears.
The second lot cost me 900 credits, while the last 10 spins “only” cost me 420. Not a good innings, considering this game has a medium volatility. It took me an age but I finally landed 3 Scatters and with them, I ensnared 5 Free Spins. Sadly, all I managed to cobble together in that round was 360 credits.
Eagle’s Gold slot’s RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots. RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. ranges between 92% and 96% and it comes with a 1,100x multiplier. You can set the bet limits to go from €0.25 to €100.
Features
Heading up our features section is the Wild for this game which is, of course, the eagle – seen here in a picture frame. The only 2 symbols it can’t substitute for, are the Golden Sun and the Scatter.
The Scatter is a picture of the eagle soaring above the fabled Rocky Mountains. As shy as its real-life counterpart, this symbol only appears on reels 1, 3, and 5.
As we’ve come to expect, 3 or more Scatters triggers the Free Spins round. Now, reels 2-4 morph into a giant symbol, so you’ll be looking at even more chances of hitting that big win.
The Golden Sun is the extrovert of symbols and can show up at the party on any of the reels. If you manage to snag 6 or more of these suckers, you’ll be into the Bonus round.
Before the Bonus round kicks off, you’ll be paid on all of your winning lines. Now, only the Golden Sun symbols that started the festivities will stay on the reels.
You’ll get 3 chances to nail another Golden Sun, and if you do that, the counter resets. With every spin you make, the Golden Suns take on a random value, or they use the values of the Mini and Major Jackpots.
The fun ends when you either run out of tries or nail the Jackpots. At this point, you’ll be awarded the sum of all the Golden Sun values. And if you’re aiming for that Mega Jackpot, you’re going to have to land 15 Golden Sun symbols – good luck with that!
Performance
Eagle’s Gold slot was created using HTML5 and WebGL technology. It didn’t let me down on any browser or devices that I threw at it.
Max Win
The game offers a max win of €110,000 but clinching the requisite 15 Golden Sun symbols will be like finding hen’s teeth. Especially if my experience is anything to go by. Hope you have better luck!
Conclusion
I have to say that this might be a decent option for mobile play. The game looks pretty good on a phone, with easy-to-use buttons. Also, due to the nature of the symbols on the reels, it’s not hard to see what’s what.
The flip side is that it’s not all that exhilarating, despite offering Jackpots, Free Spins, Giant symbols, and the Bonus round. And that’s of course because most of your time will be spent in the base game.
As I mentioned, I hemorrhaged coins despite the medium volatility, but that could have been just bad timing.
So, to sum it up, my verdict is that Eagle’s Gold slot is okay but not great.
