Wolf’s Moon Slot Review
There are a few old names for the first full moon🌝 of the year. One is the Stay Home Moon😨. Another name is the Wolf Moon, and the story goes that it was the first time you were most likely to hear wolves🐺 howling.
Some Native American tribes referred to the first full moon as the Severe Moon😰. Which sounds ominous. Hopefully, Zillion didn't bring bad ju-ju with their new Wolf's Moon slot.
Gameplay
It feels like it’s been ages since I’ve covered a new game that offers Free Spins, a Bonus Game, and Jackpots. And finally, we have one! Wolf’s Moon slot is a brand-spanking-new game with a pretty tired theme.
The Wolf is the Wild symbol that substitutes for all paying symbols, except the Scatter and Bonus symbols. During the base game and Free Spins, Wild symbols can be stacked on the reels.
The Scatter is a mountain, and the Bonus symbols are all moons that carry cash values.
The high-paying symbols are all classic prey for wolves: a moose, a deer, a wild pig, and a rabbit. There are 25 paylines to land winning combinations.
This is a medium-volatility game that accepts all currencies. The bets start at $0.11 and end at $160 a pop. If you play with the top bet, you could be in for a $208,000 win if you hit the best possible multiplier of 1,300x.
Lastly, the RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots. RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. is set to 95.25%.
Features
MYSTERY PRIZES
The Mystery Prize is a moon obscured by clouds, and it can award either the Mini, Minor, or Major Jackpot prizes.
WIN BOOST
During the base game, a special Bonus symbol with Boost across it collects and awards all the Bonus symbols on the reels and counts towards triggering the Bonus Game.
FREE SPINS
Landing 3 or more Scatter symbols will grant you 8 Free Spins. During this feature, the Bonus symbol is still active, but it won’t contribute to triggering the Bonus Game.
HOLD & WIN
During the base game, if multiple Bonus symbols land on the reels, there is a chance the game will add Bonus symbols randomly to trigger the Bonus Game.
You’ll need 6 Bonus symbols to appear on the reels to trigger the Bonus Game, which carries over to a new set of reels that only contain Bonus symbols that lock in place when they land.
The Bonus Game starts with 3 Re-spins, which reset whenever a new symbol lands. The game continues until you exhaust all Re-spins and no new symbols appear, at which point you receive the sum of all Bonus symbols and resume your game.
If you fill all 20 positions with Bonus symbols and the Bonus and Mystery Prize symbols are present, you’re instantly awarded the Grand Jackpot prize and returned to the base game or Free Spins, whichever you triggered the Bonus in.
JACKPOTS
The available Jackpot prizes include the following:
- Mini Jackpot = 24x your bet.
- Minor Jackpot = 30x your bet.
- Major Jackpot = 100x your bet.
- Grand Jackpot = 1,000x your bet.
Performance
I played 100s of spins on Wolf’s Moon slot and didn’t uncover any bugs or issues with the game.
Maximum Win
The most you can hope to win here is $208,000, by way of the game’s top multiplier, 1,300x, if you bet at the top of the range ($0.11 to $160).
Conclusion
I have to say, I was a little disappointed with the game’s Jackpot prizes. Unless you bet really big, the amounts for Jackpots feel a little low. Except maybe the Grand Jackpot, which is much harder to win.
The game requires you to fill every position on the reels during the Bonus Game, which is standard, but you also need a Mystery symbol and a Boost symbol on the reels to actually score the biggest Jackpot, which is not common.
Aside from the paltry Jackpots, the game does have almost every feature you could ask for. The Stacked Wild symbols are very useful in the base game and Free Spins, and they help create wins.
The Free Spins aren’t the most generous; only ever awarding 8. But we’ll take what we can get.
If you’re looking for a new classic slot, this is definitely an option. It played really well on mobile, and I suspect it was intended for smaller screens. Give it a spin, and good luck!
